What is Hara Shiatsu?

Shiatsu originated in Japan, but its techniques and approach are closely connected to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which sees the human being as a combination of body, mind and soul. Shiatsu is a holistic treatment method and literally means “finger pressure” (shi=fingerund atsu=pressure).

How does a shiatsu treatment look like?

The treatment takes place in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (jogging pants or leggings, T-shirt and socks) on a soft mat on the floor and lasts a total of approximately 1 hour. We start with a brief consultation where I get to know you and your history. After that, the treatment tailored to your individual needs begins.

During the treatment, firm and stable pressure is applied to the body’s meridian lines and acupunture points using fingers, palms, elbows, and knees to release possible blockages or tensions and restore balance to the entire system. Afterwards, you will remain on the mat tfor a few more minutes to allow everything to settle in.
